Open Up Your Classroom

Bienvenidos al aula del Sr. Noble

At one of the first IWLA Conferences that I ever attended, I remember the luncheon speaker, 2010 Iowa and National Teacher of the Year, Sarah Brown Wessling talking about one of the biggest things that has helped to make her the teacher that she is today: opening up her classroom.

Elf on the Shelf - El Duende en el Estante

Last year I read Elizabeth Dentlinger's post on using Elf on the Shelf as a way to deliver comprehensible input to her classes. It was such a good idea that I couldn't wait to do it in my classroom the following year.

Esperanza BreakoutEDU

This summer one of the many cool ideas I took away from the Comprehensible Iowa conference was how to create and implement a BreakoutEDU for your language classroom. Here is the original presentation presented by Spanish teacher extraordinaire, Kim Huegerich.

Gracias, Pochy

This past weekend I became the President of the Iowa World Language Association. I am humbled and honored to serve in this role for the upcoming year. When I look back at the names of the former presidents, and think about all that they have done for world language education in our state, I'm determined to do my part to advance the cause.

Café y Conversación

Inspired by Laura Catherine's Señora Shares blog post, I began a Café y Conversación time in my Spanish 3 and 4 classes. I know that there are other teachers out there who do something similar as well. While I only have two Café y Conversaciónes under my belt, and I feel like I am still refining it to work for my context; here's what I've got so far. I'd love to hear your comments, questions, and suggestions.

Back to School 2016-17

Wow! I did not blog at all this summer, even though I'm told that teachers have summers "off." I have even been late posting my Back to School post. However, this summer was definitely a busy one.
