Then, I gave it a try my second semester and it was a game changer. What you said was so true, you don’t have to have it all together to begin. I also created a Google form with jobs I thought I would need and my list keeps changing too. Also, so I don’t have to forget who does what, I print that sign up list and give it to el Gerente de la clase who signs up people as they choose and when I need a job during class, I ask him to tell me who does it in the target language so it doesn’t matter if I forget. I also give the Gerente check templates at the end of the two weeks so he can pay people and those are class points. I also do it every 2 weeks (3 if the week is short due to holidays, testing, etc). Love jobs! I am not going back to not having them unless I have one of THOSE extremely challenging classes (God forbid). Thank you for sharing. I love when I read posts and they resonate with my class practices. It gives me a sense of “Hey! i am doing something right” as sometimes CI isn’t appreciated by admins and/or other departments.BerthaDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17692072122367025632noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8881987346963940444.post-88241641860291338942017-12-12T11:52:36.870-06:002017-12-12T11:52:36.870-06:00Just played this with my level 2 class. Implementing this idea in my cla...Dear Senor Noble,<br />Implementing this idea in my classroom this year has had an enormous impact on my ELL students' understanding of "how to be a student". Many of my students come to high school with limited or interrupted formal education, or from "sink-or-swim" style systems where success and failure are attributed to one's innate characteristics. These are the students who struggle the most in school while having huge aspirations of giving back to the world by becoming doctors, nurses, lawyers, teachers, engineers, and business-people. After just two quizzes (and a wealth of requests to retest), students who formally sat back and listened to lectures and never brought paper to class have asked for extra notebooks and techniques for improving their notetaking abilities. Thank you from my students and I for sharing this thoughtful method of promoting life-long learning tools.J Ceurvorsthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01547647307510590389noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8881987346963940444.post-64513643060979897952017-02-16T09:15:49.416-06:002017-02-16T09:15:49.416-06:00that is because people can get divorced...it is no...that is because people can get divorced...it is not a guaranteed permanent establishment; though according to the church it SHOULD be. however death in the eyes of the church is always temporary no matter how you approach it.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16262921306281509204noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8881987346963940444.post-11679207215963280222017-01-14T18:31:22.874-06:002017-01-14T18:31:22.874-06:00I seem to be missing something. I try to rearrange my schedule to make it work and I try to make it valuable for the guest. This seems to have a snowball effect. I think a teacher's location could also play into this. If you are in a very rural school, you may have less opportunities than if you live in a town with university with a college of education. I'd just say, be open to every opportunity that comes. :)Señor Noblehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07290880590755365172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8881987346963940444.post-695184064122629692016-12-15T11:49:33.983-06:002016-12-15T11:49:33.983-06:00Are you still doing this? I teach K-8 Spanish and have been toying with the idea of doing a radical classroom makeover- I'd like to make it feel like an immersive living room, with a different style of seating available for almost every student (bean bags, different styles of comfy chairs, a sofa, etc.). I was planning on using clipboards for writing, but I'm still a little uneasy about that. We don't do a whole lot of writing at that level, but I do do one quick reading/handwriting worksheet with my 2nd graders every class to get their phonemic awareness going, and the older kids do about one worksheet per unit, so we would definitely need some kind of reliable system. I'm nervous about trying out such a drastic change, especially because in my case that means $$ (from my budget, not my pocket, but still...), so it's higher stakes. Any advice??Blaisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00467681683806953659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8881987346963940444.post-36063945507729552442016-10-05T23:52:39.174-05:002016-10-05T23:52:39.174-05:00That's so true. As Grant Boulanger, 2016 ACTFL TOY candidate, says, "We learn to listen first. We learn to read what we listen to. We learn to write what we read and listened to. And then finally we learn to speak because we listened, read, and wrote." This is not to say output is not important, just secondary to the others.donakimberlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03882333716814197224noreply@blogger.com
